MURID (28/05/2022)
preview of Chapter 1
2020-2022. Paper, pencil, digital media.
Murid is my first professional project, done with the help of Montréal based Éditions Trip. The comic is done in a style inspired by illuminated and mythical images. Each pages is a painting on its own; put together, they tell a story.
One of my goals was to produce a story with no sound, no dialogue, and take a step away from my usual action-oriented, comic book-esque work. Murid wakes up one day, in search of water. But after they discover the nearby oasis has dried up, they embark on a quest to find where has the water gone. This voyage will take them, and friends they meet along the way, all over the realm, and even beyond.
Below, you can find the storyboarding of this project. I rarely write out a whole script; usually sticking to the narrative structure, and maybe scene synopses and just thumbnails with dialogue (if applicable). When needed, I’ll draw a more detailed sketch of the thumbnail in a separate sketchbook if I want to make sure certain details are included.
